Meet Lou

Lou is a practical, self-motivated mom in her forties who felt stuck in a cycle of exhaustion, stress, and overwhelm. During our initial session, she expressed feeling trapped by negative self-talk and limiting beliefs.

Lou’s Struggles

As we met weekly, we explored how busy Lou’s life was. She was working in a business she started with her partner, raising her boys, and running a home. It was like having two full-time jobs, leaving her little time for herself. Lou felt tense, tired, and irritable, often snapping at her boys or arguing with her partner. She was losing touch with herself and was disappointed for not being the parent she wanted to be. Despite being strong and capable, she didn’t know how to get back on track and take care of herself.

What Lou Tried

Lou had completed professional development before and knew she had the ability to change, but she didn’t know where to start balancing her needs with her family and work responsibilities.

The Problem

With so much on her plate, even when Lou had a moment to herself, she felt too overwhelmed and exhausted to do anything. She began withdrawing from friendships she once enjoyed, avoiding conversations, and feeling low and no fun to be around.

Working with Mindfully me

When Lou started working with Mindfully me, she found it helpful to talk about her struggles. She felt seen and heard as she shared her burdens. Understanding that her roles as a parent and business owner were like having two full-time jobs helped her realise she was expecting too much of herself. Our weekly coaching sessions became something she looked forward to, giving her time for herself. She learned simple, effective tools to meet her needs without taking much time or energy. Soon, Lou’s energy and motivation returned, and she began to see clearly the changes she wanted to make. Having a plan gave her a sense of direction and something to work toward for herself.

I’m excited that my kids see me taking care of myself instead of always being ‘busy.’ It feels good to say, ‘I’m just reading my book because I love it,’ or ‘I’m doing some breathing exercises to take care of my body and mind.’ I’ve learned practical tools to navigate life’s ups and downs and developed a more mindful way of living.”
